Sophia, my beautiful daughter, I leave you this military legacy with pride, love, and hope for the generations who come after us. The Fazli and Barikzoy families carry a tradition of honor, courage, sacrifice, service, and love of country. I was born in Afghanistan, a country that shaped my character and taught me the meaning of resilience. I later came to the United States as a refugee and was blessed with the opportunity to serve alongside the U.S. Marines as a combat interpreter in Afghanistan. My journey from Afghanistan to America has taught me that freedom is never free—it is protected by the courage and sacrifice of those willing to serve. Sophia, I want you to remember that our greatest wealth is not money or possessions; it is the values, stories, and example we leave behind. Carry our family name with honor, respect the sacrifices of those who served before you, love your country, and always stand for freedom, courage, and what is right.
